Privacy policy
How VisitTrinbago handles information when you visit this website or use the VisitTrinbago app.
About this policy
This policy covers the VisitTrinbago travel app and the website at visittrinbago.org. “We”, “us” and “our” refer to the team operating VisitTrinbago. For privacy questions or requests, contact trinidadtourismlimited@gmail.com.
The app helps you discover Trinidad and Tobago, save favourites, plan itineraries, record visits and use the Ibis AI travel assistant.
Information we handle
- Account and profile: your sign-in identifier, email address, name, profile image and profile details you choose to provide, such as your country.
- Your plans and activity: favourites, itinerary items and notes, visit records, ratings, reviews, uploaded photos, reward points, badges and preferences.
- Optional visit details: information you choose to share when completing a visit, including time spent and spending amounts.
- Location: location coordinates when you grant permission and use features such as nearby discovery and check-ins.
- Ibis conversations: your messages and recent conversation context when you use the AI assistant. If you enable chat history, it is also saved locally on your device.
- Technical and support information: connection and request information needed to deliver and protect the service, notification tokens when enabled, and information you include when contacting support.
Google sign-in
If you choose “Sign in with Google”, Google and our authentication provider, Clerk through Replit, authenticate your account. The sign-in flow provides basic identity information, such as a Google account identifier, verified email address, name and profile image where available. We use this information to create or recognise your VisitTrinbago account and display your profile.
Your Google password is entered with Google; VisitTrinbago does not receive it. Our Google sign-in integration is for identity and account access. It does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, calendar or contacts.
Authentication information is processed by the sign-in providers. VisitTrinbago stores the account details needed to link your identity to your profile, favourites, itineraries and activity. Service providers receive information as needed to operate these features, and profile details may appear with content you choose to make public.
We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. You can review or remove the connection in your Google Account connections. Removing that connection does not by itself delete your VisitTrinbago account; use the account-deletion options below.
How we use information
We use information to provide sign-in and account services; save your plans and preferences; show relevant places and nearby results; validate visits and calculate rewards; display your submitted content; provide Ibis responses; deliver notifications you enable; answer support requests; and maintain the reliability and security of the service.
What other people can see
When you publish a completed visit, the app can display your name and profile image together with the place, rating, review, visit duration and photos you submit. Treat those contributions as public. Avoid including private information about yourself or other people in a review or photo.
Spending amounts entered during checkout are not displayed in public place reviews. Your saved favourites and personal itineraries are account features. Leaderboard visibility is controlled through your profile settings.
Location, photos and notifications
Location permission supports nearby discovery and check-in verification. You can deny or revoke it in your device settings; features that depend on location may then be limited. Visit records retain the place and visit details associated with a check-in.
You choose which images to upload as a profile photo or visit photo. The app may request access to your photo library or camera for that action. You can change these permissions in your device settings.
If you enable notifications, a device push token and notification preferences are used to send app notifications and itinerary reminders. You can change notification preferences or turn off notifications in your device settings.
Service providers and Ibis
VisitTrinbago uses service providers to operate the app and website. These include Replit for app infrastructure and storage, Clerk for authentication, Google or Apple when you choose their sign-in options, Expo for mobile delivery and notifications, and Netlify for this website. Providers process information needed to deliver their services.
Ibis: messages and recent conversation context are sent through our server to OpenAI services to generate replies. When web search is available, the question may also be sent to Perplexity to retrieve current information and sources. Avoid submitting passwords, payment details or sensitive personal information in a chat. These providers may process and retain requests under their service terms and the applicable account settings; this policy does not promise zero provider retention.
Providers may process information in countries other than your own. External venue websites and booking services have their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect people, accounts and the service.
Storage and retention
Account information and saved activity are kept while your account is active to provide the features you use. Locally saved Ibis history can be cleared using the controls in the app. Support correspondence and operational records may be retained as needed to respond to requests, protect the service and meet applicable obligations.
Deleting an account starts removal of the app identity, associated account records and uploaded profile and visit photos. If a provider or storage service is temporarily unavailable, deletion can remain pending while the service retries. Copies in provider logs or backups may follow the provider’s retention schedule. Contact us for information about a particular deletion or retention request.
We use access controls and encrypted connections to protect information in transit. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and account deletion
You can update profile information, manage leaderboard visibility, change device permissions, adjust notifications and clear local Ibis history using the app or your device settings.
To delete your VisitTrinbago account, use the app’s Delete Account flow. If you cannot access the app, contact trinidadtourismlimited@gmail.com from the email address associated with the account. We may ask for information needed to verify ownership before acting.
See Delete your account for instructions. You can also contact us to request access to or correction of your information, or to ask about privacy rights available to you under applicable law.
This website
This public website does not require an account. It does not add advertising trackers, an analytics script or a marketing signup form. Netlify processes technical requests to serve and secure the pages. Selecting an email link opens your email app; information is sent to us only if you send the message.
Children and policy updates
VisitTrinbago is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact trinidadtourismlimited@gmail.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where required.
